Great Bay Renewables today announced the closing of a $50 million interconnection financing facility for Geenex, a leading developer of utility-scale energy projects. This initial commitment of interconnection letters of credit (“LC”) will support readiness deposits for Geenex’s PJM TC2 projects, enabling the company to advance its project pipeline in PJM’s interconnection process.

The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) has announced a local public hearing for a proposed 220-megawatt solar-powered electric generation facility in Fairfield County. The proposed facility, submitted by Eastern Cottontail Solar, LLC, would be located in Walnut Township and would consist of a large array of photovoltaic panels, electrical infrastructure, and other supporting facilities.

The Eastern Cottontail Solar Project, one of two proposed for Fairfield County, is a 220-megawatt facility expected to generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 42,000 American homes. It has been in the works for a 1,550-acre piece of land in Walnut Township since before the county enacted a solar exclusionary zone, which prohibits large solar facilities from being built in the area.

Implementing sheep grazing has been filed as a supplement to Eastern Cottontail Solar’s permit application with the Ohio Power Siting Board. The project will seek to partner with local shepherds to supply and manage the flock.
